Greetings dear reader let me take this opportunity to introduce myself. For various reasons I have chosen to remain nameless, however my real identity will definitely be one those badly kept secrets…because after all this is Eswatini…we’re all connected somehow somewhere and sooner or later it will click that it is indeed ‘me’.
As you’ve correctly ascertained I’m a young(ish) female writer with feminist leanings. I am a life story enthusiast … it’s truly fascinating to hear how one’s background shapes them into the person that they are today. And undoubtedly these stories contain some of most valuable lessons that one can find about life. I must also admit that I am a sucker for a good love story…you know those cute boy meets girl stories that give us all hope that love is just around the corner, but in all fairness it’s probably not.
In an age where everyone and their cousin is a blogger, do we really need another blog? Absolutely. As Swazi women we definitely need a platform where we can learn more about each other and be inspired by each other’s experiences. Hence the name Swazi Innerviews. Not to mention a place to find social commentary on issues that matter the most to us, beautiful pics, and motivational content.
The Swazi Innerviews reader is a person, who like myself, believes that there are a lot of women in our midst to celebrate. And with disturbing revelations of gender-based violence, sexual assault, and misogynistic behaviour reaching us daily, we’ve never been more in need of a platform that showcases the modern day Swazi woman who is courageous, defying stereotypes, and creating change not only in her own life, but in the lives of others.
