#ShareThePie Initiative Celebrates the Strength and Resilience of Local Women during the Pandemic

#ShareThePie proves to be the ultimate gesture of paying it forward and we’re here for it🙋🏾‍♀️💞

The aim of the initiative is to spread love and softness during these challenging times by gifting four deserving women the “ultimate self-care package”.

The winners of the initiative were announced on May 17 #PieDay, after having submitted a 1-2 minute voice note sharing how the pandemic has affected them and what their new beginning is.

In an Instagram Live video, the #ShareThePie ambassadors — Phelele Pie, Leendor M, Khosi S, and Khetsiwe Dineo — shared how the initiative gave a platform for local women to open up and share their stories about the challenges they faced during this trying time.

Sharing a “Piece of the Pie”

The idea of paying it forward was a strong motivating force behind the initiative. Pie related how every year she usually plans a vacation trip for herself however this year she could not proceed with her travel plans due to the restrictions posed by pandemic. This led her to think about the global crisis and how fortunate she was to still have a job and stay afloat, especially as there were those who had been more affected by the destabilising effects of the pandemic.

Pie then decided to turn her travel budget into something more meaningful for someone else. She highlighted that despite all the negativity, there was a need to “remember to be soft” and to think about others.

The initiative quickly gained momentum after she spoke to Khosi one Saturday about the idea of giving four women a ‘face-beat’ as a way to restore “that feel-good factor” from there others jumped on and offered to supply the women with other services.

Looking at the way the prizes for the initiative came together, the ladies felt the strong sense of community that Eswatini is known for; it was like a “beautiful ripple effect”.

The enviable prize pack includes a long list of goodies supplied by some of our favourite local women-led brands. Indeed this is what every women would wish for. Pie noted the all-encompassing nature of the prizes remarking that it was not only about focusing on one aspect, but also on the recipient’s emotional, mental and financial wellbeing. #SBWL🤤🤩

Red Note Africa handled the communication aspect of the campaign. However, choosing the winners was ultimately up to Pie, she mentioned that it was “not a comparison of struggle” rather the emphasis was on people relating how they have found their new beginning.

I personally got to witness the indescribable joy that the prizes brought to one of the winners.

Big ups to the ladies for coming up with a truly inspiring initiative to spread some positivity in what is a difficult time for many people at the moment. Can’t wait to see what you think up next!
