Social entrepreneur, motivational speaker and author Sindisiwe (Sindi) Dlamini, 36, has a passion for helping women reach their full potential. She shares the lessons she has learnt on the road to starting her own organisation (Women of Crazy Wealth).
Sindi’s Story
I was born in Manzini and grew up in Dalriach West in Mbabane. Despite being raised by Daddy, I was a mommy’s baby (literally). I’m also a sibling to two phenomenal women. Currently I reside and work in Ezulwini.
Current Hustle
I’m currently the Founder and CEO of Women of Crazy Wealth (Pty) Ltd, which is a women economic empowerment organisation with the sole objective of raising SHEntrepreneurs across Africa, starting with our very own Eswatini. We do this through business mentorship programming, women conferences as well as business management skills training and development programs. We also focus primarily on women led enterprises when it comes to business strategy consulting. In summary, I would say our industry is business skills centred with a bit of heart to it as we seek to positively change the narrative in women’s lives, which eventually results in financial self-sufficiency.
I am also the Co-owner and Director at SVM Properties (Pty) Ltd, which is a property management and development company as well as a Published Author who writes books to inspire others. Amongst all these various titles, I am Public Speaker for corporate related events that exist to inspire and empower women and a Motivational Speaker for women and youth empowerment initiatives and ministry related events.
My Interesting Career Path
My career path has been an interesting one really as I’ve worked in various industries. I started off in 2006 as the Administrative Director at SVM Properties (Pty) Ltd – a family owned business. From there I moved onto working in the corporate space in 2009 at KPMG as an Administrative Assistant. In 2011, I joined ICAP as a Data Officer and was promoted within the same year to the Data Office Supervisor. I relocated to Johannesburg in 2012 and eventually got employed as an Executive Personal Assistant to the CEO at Vie De Core in 2013.
I relocated again, back to Eswatini and did some volunteering work with my church at the time being Sword and Spirit Ministries International, where I served mostly in the youth ministry. My time of service at the church landed me to my next job, which was the Board Secretary and Programme Manager at Sivusative Nengcebo (NGO) in 2014. I was with Sivusative for 2 years and then made my initial attempt to start my own business in 2017.
The balance of starting up and raising children was a challenge and so I took up employment with Buffalo Soldiers as their Project Manager in 2018. Didn’t take long before I took the official plunge into my own business (once again) which is now where I am today. I have moved around a lot over the years and each role contributed significantly to where I am now. I have the experience coupled with the knowledge I needed to run a successful enterprise with a social element attached to it. Whilst profitability is key, I truly love to make a positive impact in women’s lives which is what I do on a daily basis.
Growing up, I always wanted to be an air hostess because I like the idea of travelling around the world. Needless to say that never happened but what I do allows me to travel and meet a lot of incredible people along the way.
Ascending the Success Ladder Through Servanthood
My book is based on the experiences I went through as I navigated this thing called life, through the various opportunities I have been privileged to serve in. No experience is the same for everyone and so my journey is mine alone which is the reason why it differs from the crowd, I was not trained into what I know but I had to walk through it and therein lies the beauty of it all.
Whilst the idea behind the book was to truly encourage others to serve from a premise of sincerity, humility and so forth, I do not hold back in letting you know that not everyday spent serving others is a good day, no matter how much effort you put into that which you are doing, there will always be someone who feels you haven’t done enough! However, that shouldn’t stop you from continuing to serve others. The book also differs in that, I don’t just highlight the pros and cons of serving others but give you tools on how to smoothly navigate around tricky situations that may arise as you willingly serve others and their visions.
Lessons Learnt
Never ever personalise rejection or correction, rather use that to refine and align you into purpose. We were not placed on earth to fit in somewhere but we were placed here to function in that God given gift, talent or skill. Whenever you are faced with rejection, it shouldn’t place you in a deep state of depression because the truth is you will not be understood by everyone, therefore stand out and function. Receive rejection as a firm form of redirection as opposed to something being wrong with you.
One of my former employers once told me that I did not fit into their strategic plan, and whist that was a serious blow to the gut because I truly put my all into that job I was hired to do. Upon leaving that company, I then realised that I was never born to fit into a strategy, but I was born to create my own strategies and so not fitting into that company’s strategic plan was absolutely correct! Two visions under one roof only result in division. I walked into that company completely unaware that I was carrying my own vision in hand and it took those seemingly harsh words to actually re-direct my path into passion and purpose.
